Despite the tricky weather the Jaffas u15 and u16 teams spent the second week of the holidays participating in a ‘Pro week’ football camp. Designed by Head of Football, Richard Hartley, the players experienced the program of a professional footballer. Lambton first grade coach Jim Pascoe put the players through theoretical and practical tactical sessions which helped each better understand “the Lambton Way”.
The players were also exposed to sprint coaching from highly successful athletic coach Dennis Pitt and core strengthening exercises and nutrition workshops from Doug Black from the Fitness Shed, warners Bay. They also were given reading assignments about role models to better understand the footballing qualities and mentality of elite players.
Staff coaches, Brian Gaffney and Jeff Green assisted with group sessions throughout the week. The players were provided lunch each day and were tasked with defining and setting realistic and measurable football improvement goals.
Despite the intensity and workload the players had a very enjoyable and worthwhile experience.
